Katie Touhey of the Cape Cod Stranding Network/ IFAW checks one of four stranded dolphins at Herrin Cove Beach in Provincetown, Massachusetts. All four dolphins were released back into the ocean around 2:00 PM this afternoon. They were found stranded earlier in the day in Wellfleet.

Each year, more than 200 marine mammals become stranded on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The area is now known as a global hotspot for the strandings of seals, dolphins and whales. IFAW’s Sarah Sharp tells us how the Marine Mammal Rescue Program is stepping in to help.
