Moose rescued from icy lake

People in Washington state rushed to the rescue yesterday after a wandering moose fell through soft ice in the middle of a lake. After more than two hours, the exhausted moose could barely keep his head above water, so rescuers had to think outside the box.

They tied ropes around the animal’s chest and used a pulley to drag the moose to safety.

Squirrel rescued from Fargo floods

River waters are taking over areas they never have before in Fargo, North Dakota. This means a lot of animals are looking for new places to stay, including newly named “Grover” the squirrel.

Stranded seal rescued in Saugus

A seal that caused quite a commotion in one Massachusetts town is now on its way home. That seal got stuck in Saugus, Massachusetts and for the last 24 hours has been the talk of the town.

The 200 pound Harp Seal made a wrong turn, swimming up the Saugus River, and ending up behind a cemetery on Winter Street in Saugus.

Enormous rescue for Australian lifeguards

Lifeguards on a Queensland beach rescued an unlikely victim on Monday, when they spotted a giant loggerhead turtle floundering a kilometer out at sea, according to Australian broadcaster Channel 10.

Helped by workers from Australia Zoo the massive turtle was brought to shore on the back of a jet-ski.

The reptile could be as old as 50.

The turtle may have swallowed a plastic bag, which caused blockage. Some say it is likely he wold have died of starvation if he was not rescued.

Vets are now monitoring the turtle.
