A kangaroo bounced its way into the Garran, Australia, home of the Ettlin family. The scary ordeal lasted a few minutes before the marsupial was pushed out the front door.

Dolphin nursed back to health after shark attack

A dolphin will undergo surgery in Australia to repair a massive shark bite across his back and head. Nari the dolphin, one of a pod of 11 wild dolphins attending a nightly hand-feeding event at Tangalooma Resort on Moreton Island, off Brisbane, was spotted bearing deep wounds from the bite of a large shark on Friday.

Until Monday, the animal had not emerged from Moreton Bay for its nightly feed and it was feared it may have succumbed to the injury.

Parched koala accepts water from firefighter

The scope of the devastation to Australia’s wildlife caused by the wildfires has begun to emerge with officials estimating millions of animals perished in the inferno. Animal shelters and clinics across the region have been inundated with hundreds of burned and blistered creatures who escaped the fires.

One such furry survivor has emerged a star. A koala, nicknamed “Sam” by her rescuers, was found moving gingerly on scorched paws by a fire patrol on Sunday.

Firefighter David Tree offered the creature a bottle of water, which she eagerly accepted, holding Tree’s hand as he poured water into her mouth.

Enormous rescue for Australian lifeguards

Lifeguards on a Queensland beach rescued an unlikely victim on Monday, when they spotted a giant loggerhead turtle floundering a kilometer out at sea, according to Australian broadcaster Channel 10.

Helped by workers from Australia Zoo the massive turtle was brought to shore on the back of a jet-ski.

The reptile could be as old as 50.

The turtle may have swallowed a plastic bag, which caused blockage. Some say it is likely he wold have died of starvation if he was not rescued.

Vets are now monitoring the turtle.
