Say ‘hello’ to Frankie!

Posted By: Adam Hart | March 8, 2009 at 6:31 pm

Zookeepers have been taking care of this special new arrival at the San Diego Zoo and he made his public debut over the weekend.

Frankie is a baby Western Lowland Gorilla, and was born last September.

It was Frankie’s aunt, not his mother, that brought him outside into the gorilla habitat. Zookeepers said gorillas are raised by the whole community not just their mothers.

Frankie is still being bottle fed by zookeepers three times a day. He will only be allowed in the outside habitat three days a week for right now.

Get involved: Walk for Animals

Posted By: Allison Sonfist | March 3, 2009 at 2:13 pm

For many years I have been an avid supporter and fundraiser for the MSPCA. The organization holds an annual MSPCA-Angell Walk for Animals each September — and it is such an amazing event to support an important cause. Animal lovers, this is the event for you — and you can bring your beloved canine companions.

The annual event holds walks in three locations on the same day in Boston, Methuen and Hyannis.

I have already set up my personal pledge page and have been collecting donations. Set up yours now by clicking here! You can really make a difference.
