Bird watchers visiting Vermont have been deprived for years. The bald eagle, which was once on the brink of extinction, has re-established a population in most states, but Vermont has been an exception. Now some signs of progress.

The mammal in charge is host Vicki Croke, who has been covering animal issues for more than 20 years on television, radio, and in print. Her entire career has been one big excuse to pat as many animals as possible.
