Finn now local celeb for goose-chasing skills

Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, has come up with a creative way to control the Canada geese that have made the new campus quad their playground, and lavatory. A five-year-old border collie has been hired to help.

Rather than spending money each month to hire a company to clean up after the geese, Becka Yturregui, who works at the school, suggested letting her dog take aim at the geese. This way, Becka could save the school money and get to spend time with her dog during the workday.

Who could do such a thing?

As throwing a puppy from a car onto the median of an Arizona highway? Well, this woman witnessed the act and helped save this puppy — aptly named Lucky.

Unfortunately, economic troubles are giving people an excuse to dump their pets in unsafe places. But is there really an excuse for this?

Lucky is recovering from his leg injury and will be ready for adoption soon.

This ape can whistle

Have you ever gotten a tune stuck in your head? Well, Bonnie the Ape appears to have picked up the art of whistling — and without any training. Check it out!

Bonnie is in Washington, D.C. at the National Zoo. Recently, the National Zoo and Great Ape Trust conducted a study to see if Bonnie would mimic human whistling, and she did.

Abandoned at birth, Sylvester beats the odds

A tiger cub, abandoned by his mother, has been nursed back to health — thanks to some caring veterinarians in Israel. His mother is a Sumatran tiger at Jerusalem’s Biblical Zoo, who is known to eat her cubs.

Sylvester survived the odds, and for the past two months has been living at the homes of three vets. The adorable creature is now living at a clinic at the zoo until he is old enough and ready to move outdoors.

Quite the unusual discovery in one backyard

A young boy in East Ridge, Tennessee made an unusual discovery when looking out his window — a spider monkey in his backyard! Animal Control officers captured “Clyde” and returned him back to his owners.

Winston is the new face of Milk-Bone

Winston, a Great Dane, is the winner of a $100,000 Milk-Bone contest. His gorgeous mug will be the new face of the brand.

Birds of a feather grow up together

Already showing the large, frog-like mouths that give the species its name, Hoover (L) and Sawyer (R) are tawny frogmouth chicks that were hatched at SeaWorld Orlando last month.

Until recently, the population of tawny frogmouths in North American zoos was facing extinction and breeding programs were largely unsuccessful.

SeaWorld worked with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to develop a breeding program to help sustain the species’ growth.

And, the program is showing early success — in less than a year, six chicks have been hatched and all are now thriving at the park.
